Get the top tips to visit Santa Rosa Beach in Florida; it is everything that you want in a trip to the beach. Santa Rosa Beach was recently named as a Top 5 Favorite Town in America by Travel + Leisure. The sand is beautifully white and squeaks when you walk; the water is a gorgeous shade of turquoise blue and the sun sets are to die for.
This is one of my favorite beaches in Florida because you get the fun playful beach atmosphere without the hustle and bustle of a highly populated and commercialized beach town. In 2013 it was named as Google’s #1 eCity in Florida, Santa Rosa did not disappoint. If you enjoy going to the beach for pure relaxation and like the small town vibe then Santa Rosa Beach has your name written all over it. Here are a few fun top tips to visit Santa Rosa Beach and to help make your visit a memorable one.
The Food: I love to eat at non-franchised restaurants when I’m on vacation. I feel that eating locally adds to the overall experience of the vacation. With that being said, we devoured a variety of locally crafted cuisine’s such as Bayou Bills Crab House, Yum Pizza, and the Perfect Pig for BBQ. All of these Santa Rosa Beach specialties left me with a delightfully unique dining experience however, my favorite on the list is from the La Playa Mexican restaurant. It is located right on the beach which makes it perfect for a midday meal without having to pack up and travel for lunch. They served one of the best fish tacos and sweet potato fries that I have ever tasted!
How to Play: Santa Rosa Beach is perfect for relaxing and reading but if you want to be a little more active on your trip then you must stop by YOLO Bike and Board Rental. You can rent bikes to ride down the 30A and take in some beautiful scenery while stopping to shop along the way. You can also rent a variety of paddle boards and try your hand at catching a few waves. One of the highlights of my visit was riding a wave on the paddle board. It was exhilarating and memorable.
Where to Stay: There are a variety of places to rent in Santa Rosa Beach. The quaint community offers beach homes, condos and cottages for rent. Visit airbnb to find accommodations that are appealing to you. We chose to rent a condo above the shops and across the street from the beach. This was perfect for us because we did not have to search or pay for a parking spot everyday. It was convenient to be a few steps away from the water. We would set up a spot in the morning and then come and go as we pleased through out the day. It was heavenly.
The Shopping: If you love to relax and shop then Santa Rosa Beach has what you need. A short drive will you take you to the Silver Sands Premium Outlet mall where you can find all of the hottest brands and latest fashion at very good prices. If you like to shop locally then be sure to check out the Artists at Gulf Place shopping corner. Keep your eye out for a Saturday Morning Flea Market where you are sure to find a few unique treasures.
