We all have a million photographs and don’t know what to do with them. Well, today I’m excited to share with you how to turn sentimental photos into personalized drink coaster. As a photographer I am very fond of preserving loving moments and personalized drink coasters are a great way to share those long lasting memories of your loved ones.
My forever boyfriend is my husband, Dave. He loves to relax and take a break with a glass of soda and is always looking for a place to set his glass. So, I decided to use some of our favorite moments to make drink coasters for Valentine’s Day this year.
I don’t talk a lot about Dave on social media but he is loving, supportive and my biggest fan. He accepts me for who I am and encourages me to be my best self. He is an Army officer who returns home from long deployments, training’s and work to help me around the house and with our boys. I LOVE him!! He’s seriously the Prince Charming to my Happily Ever After.
Dave builds me up like no other and makes me laugh daily as we journey through life together; forever. When we first got married he placed a “Welcome Home” card in the crease of the front door. I read through it with tears in my eyes as I physically entered into my new life.
The best part is that I get to keep that memory forever and relive it every time that I re-read that card. This is why I will be incorporating an American Greetings Valentine’s Day card with his personalized drink coasters. Dave’s love language is words of affirmation so I’m sure that he will appreciate the sweet message.
I prefer to use American Greetings cards because it is a simple way to brighten Dave’s day and to connect with him. I loved Dave’s Valentine’ s Day card so much that I had to pick up a cute one for the boys as well. I can’t leave out my babies, they love Star Wars and this card had their name written all over it. I enjoy sharing this holiday with everyone in our home.
I will be incorporating an American Greetings card into the gift wrapping package for his coasters. This is a fun and creative way to turn any Valentine’s Day card into a dual purpose. The card will serve as a memorable gift and make a big statement in the presentation of the coasters. You have to find a store near you and grab an American Greetings card before it’s too late. Valentine’s Day will here before we know it, haha!
Not only does American Greeting’s have the cards that help make the world a more thoughtful place, but they also have adorable stickers and tissue paper for gift giving. I’m totally going to use these cute heart shaped stickers as a “bow” for my ribbon and the tissue paper is festive way of protecting the coasters.
With Valentine’s Day being on a Tuesday this year, it’s nice to give a loving card and still be able to make it memorable and meaningful without complicating things. I don’t do “complicated,” which is why you will be happy to know that making these coasters is super easy! Let me show you how!
Gather Your Materials:
- 4 – 4×6 matte photos
- 4 – 4×4 inch tiles
- 1 glue/paint sponge
- 6 Sticky dots for the bottom of the coasters
- Modge Podge glue
- Clear finishing spray
Directions: * Cut the photos to fit on the tile.
* Spread a little Modge Podge onto the tile. Be sure to wipe the excess glue and do not paint a heavy coat onto the tile.
* Place the photo on the tile.
* Spread another layer of Modge Podge on top of the photo. This will allow the photo to seal to the tile. Let it dry and repeat this step two more times while letting it dry in between.
* Once the tiles have completely dried for three days, spray the finishing spray on top. Let the coasters sit for three days before placing a cold beverage on top.
* Add a few sticky dots of your choice to the bottom of the coasters. This will protect the tiles when they are stacked and will also protect your table tops.
That’s it!! Now, y’all know that Dave is working out of town a lot lately so I’m taking care of the boys by myself these day. Heaven knows that I would forget when Valentine’s Day is so thankfully American Greetings has a really cute February banner for my phone that I can use as a reminder. Before you forget, grab a super cute wallpaper for your phone or desktop.
They also have an adorable FREE 8×10 printable Valentine’s Day quote, which I framed and added to my existing love decor. I’m working on being more organized this year so I was thrilled when I saw that they have a printable calendar and shopping list that I can use in my home messaging center.
I love the cute tear off “love notes” that come with the shopping list. The sweet little messages are perfect for placing in Andrew’s lunch box or in Dave’s suitcase. I know that they both will be happy when they open their bags to see those sweet messages. Be sure to grab your copies HERE.
