Over the weekend we decided to do an impromptu camping trip. My parents, who NEVER camp, even decided to join us. Well, 24 hours prior to leaving, we found out that some inconsiderate person rented out every single camp site and we were left with a cabin. Thankfully it wasn’t the worst cabin in the world. It was actually pretty nice. It had comfy leather seating, plenty of beds for everyone to sleep in, and it was very, very clean. We were right on the water but there wasn’t much fishing going on.
We choose to rent from Uchee Creek because they also have boat rentals on their property. Little did we know that a storm would come in the day before our arrival and leave behind a ton of debris in the water. As it turns out, we were unable to rent a boat and there weren’t any availabilities for miles.
So, we didn’t actually get to camp and now we didn’t have a boat. Well, thankfully my husband was determined that we have a good time and go fishing so we drove for over an hour and rented a pontoon. It was amazing!
The kids had a blast jumping into the lake, swimming, fishing and relaxing. Even though there was a slight over cast, it was still plenty hot. We stayed hydrated with Powerade and Dasani waters. I was sure to stock up so that even the little’s could have their own drinks.
I love Dasani purified water; it’s pure, crisp and refreshing. The special blend of minerals does not leave behind an after taste and the plant bottle makes recycling a breeze. I was more than happy to hand them out along with the plethora of snacks that were being consumed.
The boys were doing a ton of sweating and were working hard while swimming so I wanted to make sure that we were replacing their electrolytes. They enjoyed Grape and Lemon Lime Powerade. The only time that Axel would put down his drink was so that he could pick up his fishing pole. He was the cutest!
That evening we wanted to feel like we were camping so we cooked dinner over an open fire. It was amazing! We had salmon, veggies, hotdogs and sausages. It wasn’t the camping experience that we wanted but we still managed to have a good time. Stay tuned for the next time that we actually do get to camp. Do you like to camp or glamp?
