So, we literally woke up, called the county and decided to buy CHICKENS!! They are so stinking cute and the boys are in heaven! Ever since the layoff, we have been taking matters into our hands when it comes to the future and security of our family.
Dave and I have been wanting chickens for years and it’s always seemed to be so far out of reach. Well, we went to a feed store to buy a bale of straw for fall decorations and we noticed that there were a lot of baby chicks on sale. We had no idea that the spring and fall were the perfect time to buy chickens.
We immediately called the county to make sure that we have the green light to have chickens on our property. (Can you believe that we are able to have 20!!) After that, we decided to just do it. With no prior knowledge on how to take care of them or how to prepare, we went back to the feed store and bought 10 chickens! We have since become pretty knowledgeable pretty quickly and Andrew is learning a lot of responsibility. I love it!!
We want the ability to be able to feed and take care of our family despite what comes our way. I have been grinding to build my photography brand, Aundrea DeMille Photography, here in Utah so that I can be in charge of making my own money and helping to provide for the family. These are things that no one can take away from us. It feels good to know that we will have food for our kids no matter what comes our way. What steps have you taken to be more self-reliant?
